Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort
Island-village moderate wrapped around a 45-acre lake — and the hub of the Skyliner, with gondolas to two parks.
Moderate Resorts EPCOT area $270–$470/night
Caribbean Beach was Disney's first moderate resort, and its 1988 formula still works: six island-themed villages — Aruba, Barbados, Jamaica, Martinique, Trinidad, and Old Port Royale — ringing the 45-acre Barefoot Bay, with white-sand beaches, hammocks under the palms, and a Spanish-fortress feature pool (Fuentes del Morro) firing water cannons at swimmers. It's big — over 1,500 rooms — which is the trade for the price, and the village layout means room location matters more here than anywhere: ask near Old Port Royale for food, or near a bridge for the Skyliner.
The Skyliner remade this resort's value proposition. Its hub station sits at the resort, with one line running to EPCOT's International Gateway via the Riviera and another straight to Hollywood Studios — two parks by gondola while Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom stay on buses. Festival trips and Studios mornings get dramatically easier here than at any other moderate.
Dining centers on Old Port Royale: Sebastian's Bistro does a sleeper-hit Caribbean table-service dinner (the cinnamon bread service alone justifies it), Centertown Market handles the food-court duty with jerk and mojo options, and Banana Cabana pours at the pool with a sunset view across the bay.
Who it suits: families who want resort-feel grounds and Skyliner convenience at a moderate price, and EPCOT festival commuters on a budget. Pack patience for internal bus stops, or request Jamaica/Aruba and walk the bridge to the gondolas.
