Are Magic Kingdom lines shorter on Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party days? In our 2026 data, yes. Across the first 21 party days of the season, the average posted wait between 9 AM and 6 PM was 15.7 minutes, against 21.6 minutes on the 32 regular days over the same stretch (August 7 to September 27). That is about 27% shorter.
This comes from every standby wait we logged at Magic Kingdom this season, not from anecdotes. Here is what it shows, and where the numbers need a caveat.
Party days vs. regular days, hour by hour

The gap widens as the day goes on. On party days Magic Kingdom closes to day guests at 6 PM, and many people seem to pick another park for the whole day rather than lose the evening. The last row compares the party itself with a normal Magic Kingdom evening: party guests see shorter lines too.

Space Mountain showed an even bigger gap (17 vs. 35 minutes), but ride downtime may explain part of that, so we left it out of the table.
The caveat: which weekdays get parties
This season's parties fall mostly on Tuesdays and Fridays, while Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays have all been regular days. Weekday could explain some of the difference. Two weekdays have had both kinds of day, and both show the same pattern:
- Sundays: 16.1 minutes on 5 party days vs. 21.6 on 3 regular days
- Thursdays: 14.0 minutes on 1 party day vs. 21.4 on 6 regular days
The samples are small, but the direction is consistent.
Lightning Lane is cheaper too
Disney's own pricing agrees. Magic Kingdom's Lightning Lane Multi Pass has averaged $27.11 on party days vs. $29.63 on other days this season (including prices Disney has already posted for upcoming dates). What this means for your trip
- Don't avoid party days if you're a day guest. If you can leave by the 6 PM close, a party day has been one of the quieter days to do Magic Kingdom.
- Front-load the headliners. The advantage grows through the afternoon, but the park still closes at 6 PM, so plan to finish your must-dos by then.

How we measured this
We record the posted standby wait for every Magic Kingdom attraction throughout the day. This analysis uses operating attractions with a posted wait, from August 7 to September 27, 2026, converted to Eastern time. Party dates come from Disney's published park hours. Figures are averages of posted waits, which usually run a little longer than actual waits.
