Disney's Coronado Springs Resort

The moderate that drinks like a deluxe — Gran Destino Tower, a rooftop restaurant, and a lakeside bar in the middle of Lago Dorado.

Moderate Resorts Animal Kingdom area $280–$500/night

Opened: 1997
Rooms: ~2,412
Dining: 10 locations
Transport: Bus, Internal walkways & bridge
Gran Destino Tower · Toledo rooftop dining · Three Bridges Bar & Grill on Lago Dorado · Dig Site pool with Mayan pyramid · Convention center

Coronado Springs is the moderate that outgrew its category. The 2019 addition of Gran Destino Tower — fifteen stories of Spanish-modernist lobby, club level, and the Toledo rooftop restaurant — gave it a skyline and an upscale register no other moderate touches, while the original Casitas, Ranchos, and Cabanas keep the Spanish-colonial lakeside sprawl around Lago Dorado. The convention center keeps service polished and weekday bars lively.

The food-and-drink lineup is the deepest in the tier: Toledo's tapas and steaks with fireworks glimpses from the roof, Three Bridges Bar & Grill sitting literally in the middle of the lake at the end of its walkways (no reservation needed — the moderate-tier Geyser Point), Rix Sports Bar, the Maya Grill, and El Mercado's market-style food hall. The Dig Site anchors recreation with its Mayan-pyramid pool, the largest hot tub on property, and a 123-foot slide.

Transportation is bus-only but efficient: four theme-park routes from multiple internal stops, with Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios the short rides. The lake loop walk — a flat mile under string lights — is the resort's quiet evening amenity.

Who it suits: adults and couples who want deluxe-adjacent dining at moderate prices, conference attendees adding park days, and families who'll trade a themed kiddie-pool circus for the Dig Site. Character-meal seekers should note there are none on site.
